MONROE — State Police say that a trooper responding to a crash in North Louisiana on Thursday rear-ended another vehicle resulting in the deaths of two people.

Troopers say that the crash happened around 7:00 pm on U.S. Hwy 165 at Ticheli Road on October 1.

State Police have identified the victims of Thursday's crash as 11-year-old An-Janne Lindsey and 18-year-old Kajenne Lindsey, both of Monroe.

An investigation into the crash revealed that a trooper in a fully-marked state police unit was traveling south on U.S. Hwy 165 responding to a separate crash.

The trooper driving the unit was identified on Friday afternoon as Trooper Kaleb Reeves.

For reasons still under investigation, state police say that Reeves' unit rear-ended another vehicle that was traveling in the same lane.

After impact, the passenger vehicle rotated and struck a large metal signal pole along the rear driver's side.

Both An-Janne and Kajenne Lindsey, who were rear-seat passengers in the vehicle, were taken to a local hospital where they were later pronounced dead.

The driver and a front-seat passenger were also taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries.

Trooper Reeves, who was properly restrained, was not injured in the crash.

State Police say that restraint use of the two victims is still under investigation.

They say that impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash. Trooper Reeves reportedly submitted to a breath alcohol test that showed no impairment.

State Police say the crash remains under investigation.
