State Police identify person killed in shooting involving off-duty Livingston Parish deputy

State Police have identified the person killed in an off-duty deputy involved shooting in Livingston Parish.

30-year-old Aaron Sparkman of Greensburg was shot and killed early Monday morning.

An investigation into the shooting revealed that a Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office deputy was at his residence when he was confronted by an armed individual identified as Sparkman.

According to State Police, a physical altercation ensued during which time both individuals discharged their firearms.

Both were struck by gunfire.

Troopers say Sparkman received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead a the scene by the Livingston Parish Coroner's Office.

The deputy was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
