AROUND ACADIANA

Commissioner of Administration Jay Dardenne announced that state offices in the following 25 parishes will be closed Tuesday, Sept. 14: Acadia, Allen, Avoyelles, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, Evangeline, Iberia, Jeff Davis, Jefferson, Lafayette, Lafourche, Orleans, Rapides, St. Charles, St. Helena, St. James, St. John the Baptist, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary, Tangipahoa, Terrebonne, Vermilion and Vernon.

All agency heads are responsible for determining those essential personnel who should remain on duty, report for duty, or those who should report to alternate work sites as necessary. Officials continue to monitor conditions throughout the state, and this announcement may be updated.

This office closure applies to all nonessential employees, including those authorized to work from home due to COVID-19.

Community-based COVID-19 testing and vaccination sites in Region 5 (Southwest Louisiana) will be closed on Tuesday, September 14, and Wednesday, September 15, due to Nicholas. This will involve parish health unit sites, Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, and McNeese.

Region 4 public health unit sites will not conduct COVID-19 testing on Tuesday, September 14.

ACADIA PARISH

The Acadia Parish Police Jury’s regular monthly meeting has been rescheduled due to Tropical Storm Nicholas. The meeting will now take place on Tuesday, September 21st at 6:00pm in the Police Jury Meeting Room.

IBERIA PARISH

Iberia Courthouse Building ‐ 300 S Iberia St., New Iberia, LA 70560‐Closed due to Weather.

FEMA Disaster Assistance in New Iberia. The agency was scheduled to be at the Iberia Courthouse building. This location is where FEMA DSA team was temporarily placed to help people apply for Disaster Assistance from Hurricane IDA.

This Telephone number is currently open 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.

The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Administrative Offices closed today at noon and will remain closed Wednesday, September 15th.

LAFAYETTE PARISH

Due to the impending weather conditions forecasted this week, the meeting of the Lafayette Parish Council’s City-Parish Alignment Commission scheduled for Wednesday, September 15, 2021, will be postponed to a date that will be determined at a later time. Once the meeting is rescheduled, notification of its date, time, and location will follow.

All Lafayette Consolidated Government non-essential offices will close at 2:30 p.m. September 14 and reopen Wednesday, September 15, weather permitting.

ST. LANDRY PARISH

The scheduled special meeting for tonight September 14, 2021, at the Delta Grand Theatre in Opelousas has been postponed due to inclement weather conditions.

VERMILION PARISH

The Mayor's Court in Maurice will not be held on Tuesday September 14 due to Tropical Storm Nicholas. Magistrate Ted Ayo and Mayor Wayne Theriot say that the cases for Tuesday will be continued to October 12, 2021.
