UPDATE (8:30 p.m.): SLEMCO has initiated rolling blackouts until further notice.
SLEMCO announced Tuesday evening that grid managers say generation load in its service area is at a "critical point."
In order to avoid rolling blackouts, SLEMCO is asking all customers to conserve electrical use throughout the night Tuesday, but particularly until 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Tuesday morning, the power company announced it was instructed to conduct rolling blackouts for all customers. They were able to discontinue the blackouts around 1:30 p.m.
