Equipment is in place, and crews are making preparations to remove the Seacor Power from the Gulf.
A spokesman for the U.S. Coast Guard tells KATC that the status of the lift boat hasn't changed; a crane that arrived on site Tuesday near Port Fourchon is still removing debris.
That's the first step that must be taken before the vessel can be removed to another location for further investigation into the April accident that left six men dead and another seven missing and presumed dead. Another six men were rescued.
The U.S. Coast Guard spokesman said the timeline for removal of the vessel has not been set yet. He said the debris removal is the first step, but weather and site conditions also will have an impact on the timing.
All the equipment is in place to move it, he said.
