The Baton Rouge Police Department says that one of their officers was shot at an apartment complex just before 8:00 pm Monday, August 5.

The incident happened just off of Nicholson Drive as officers were responding to a domestic call and possible hostage situation, according to reports. Witnesses tell WBRZ that there was heavy police presence at the scene in the 900 block of Geranium Street.

The Baton Rouge Police Department says that they were investigating the incident when a suspect fired a shot, striking an officer in the leg. That suspect was apprehended without incident.

The officer was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Several roadways in the area were closed off while officers were on the scene. An investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
