The Rapides Parish Police Jury has set a ban on burning in the parish.
The reason for the ban is a lack of water and water pressure throughout the parish.
"Hurricane Laura has caused extensive damage to our water systems throughout the Parish resulting in low water pressure and a reduced ability to fight fires," a release states.
Any burning of debris or anything else is prohibited in the unincorporated portion of the parish from 11 a.m. on Sunday, August 30, through 11 a.m. on September 4.
