A petition online is calling for LSU to cancel school for the College Football Playoff National Championship game.

The petition found on change.org is asking the President of the University to push back the start of the semester to allow students to cheer on the team.

"The LSU student body has been know to have a large amount of school spirit and needs to be present for their team in their hardest game of the year. The student body has brought a "roar" to every game this year to pump up the team and lead them to a successful season," the petition states.

The organizer of the petition states that school should be closed on January 13, and open instead on Tuesday January 14, 2020.

The National Championship game will be played on January 13, 2020, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. LSU will take on Clemson with kick-off starting at 7:00 p.m. The game will air on ESPN.

Before the game, Lauren Daigle will perform the national anthem.
