Louisiana State Police are reporting that a pedestrian was struck and killed shortly before 9:30 p.m. on August 2, 2019 in Iberville Parish.
The crash occurred on LA Hwy 1 south of LA Hwy 75 (Belleview Rd.) and took the life of 36-year-old Dusty Rineheart of Plaquemine.
According to police, Rineheart was walking across the southbound lanes of LA Hwy 1. At the same time, a Buick Park Regal, a Kia Optima, and an Allegro Motorhome were traveling southbound on the highway.
As Rineheart was crossing the highway, he was struck by the Buick and then run over by the Kia and Allegro.
Rineheart sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Impairment is suspected on the part of Rineheart, and a toxicology sample was obtained from him for analysis.
All other parties were properly restrained and not injured. They showed no signs of impairment.
The crash remains under investigation and there is no further information at this time.
