GEISMAR, La. (AP) — A Louisiana man is facing multiple charges after his 3-year-old child accidentally shot and wounded a 6-year-old sibling, authorities said.
Two children were left in a car with a gun while the man went inside a discount store in Geismar on Oct. 1, The Advocate reported. The 3-year-old shot and wounded the older child with a pistol before the man returned.
The 6-year-old was taken to a hospital by helicopter and is recovering.
Arthur Robertson, 31, was charged with improper supervision of a minor, delinquency of a juvenile plus two drug offenses, sheriff’s officials said in a statement Thursday. He was jailed with bail set at $3,500.
Court records were not immediately available to show whether Robertson had an attorney to speak on his behalf.
