On Thursday, the Louisiana Workforce Commission released its initial unemployment insurance claims for the week ending April 11, which dropped to 79,653 from the week ending April 4 number of 102,172.
For a comparison, during the week ending April 13, 2019, a total of 1,887 initial claims were filed, the LWC states.
The four-week moving average of initial claims increased to 87,916 from the previous week’s average of 68,566.
The unemployment insurance continued claims for the week ending April 11, 2020 increased to 217,532 from the week ending April 4, 2020 total of 120,744. The continued claims were above the comparable figure of 13,414 for the week ending April 13, 2019.
The four-week moving average of continued claims increased to 102,612 from the previous week’s average of 51,725.
