A local student now studying at LSU is participating in a charity run for the Steve Gleason Foundation.

The route is set to be from Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge to the Superdome in New Orleans, which is about 125 miles.

Dante Hebert graduated from Teurlings Catholic and is now studying at LSU.

The Red Crescent Run has not been run for a few years now, but Hebert is hoping to raise awareness again. It begins on January 9 and ends on January 13, the day of the college football playoffs finals.

Hebert's goal is $5,000 - so far, he has raised $560.

He says Gleason's fight against ALS "has inspired me to push my limits."
