Baton Rouge, La. - The Louisiana Department of Health has announced its intent to contract with two dental administrators for Medicaid following a state bid process that began in June 2019 when the Department issued a request for proposals.

The Department has selected DentaQuest USA Insurance Company, Inc. and MCNA Insurance Company d/b/a MCNA Dental Plans as its dental partners with a start date dependent upon the results of any protests that may be filed and preparations for open enrollment. The selected organizations will be responsible for providing Medicaid dental benefits and services to eligible children and adults in Louisiana.

The award of these new contracts will not affect the Medicaid eligibility of any member. Members will have the opportunity to select a plan during the next open enrollment period. Medicaid will release additional information about the timing of open enrollment.

The Department of Health has notified all bidders and will begin contract negotiations. The next step is a protest period. If there is no protest then the Department will move forward with the execution of these dental contracts.
