Louisiana's delegation has released statements following President Trump's State of the Union on Tuesday night.

Below is a statement from Congressman Clay Higgins:

Since being elected, President Trump hasn't stopped working for the American people. The President is delivering on his promises. America is safer, stronger, and more prosperous under his leadership. We are in the midst of a historically strong economy, and Americans are winning again because of Conservative pro-growth policies. In the past three years, we have achieved significant progress in securing the southern border, rebuilding our military, and establishing American energy dominance. Further, President Trump has outlined a bold plan to lower health care costs, greatly reducing government mandates, restoring individual freedom, encouraging innovation, and increasing marketplace competition. This is the vision of America that we should embrace.

Democrats in Congress should end their partisan obstruction, move beyond this Constitutionally-unfounded, weaponized impeachment, and work with Republicans to help President Trump deliver bipartisan wins for America. We have important work that must be done.

The statement below is from Representative Mike Johnson:

By any objective measure, the Trump presidency has been a tremendous success. The people of Louisiana are reaping the benefits of a booming economy, more jobs and higher wages, energy independence, new trade deals, key judicial appointments, and a revitalized military. This evening, President Trump began writing the next chapter in our 'Great American Comeback' story. It is my hope that Congress can get to work to ensure that vision becomes a reality.

We have an historic opportunity before us, and the leaders of both parties need to come together to pass legislation that will secure our Southern border, reduce the costs of health care, and eliminate wasteful government spending so our country can continue its resurgence. I'm grateful the president emphasized these objectives in his address tonight, and I look forward to working with him to achieve an even greater, stronger America in the days ahead.

The White House released information ahead of the State of the Union on Tuesday regarding the country's and Louisiana's economy, saying that 21,000 jobs have been created in the state since President Trump's election.

The information also referenced the 150 opportunity zones in Louisiana that are meant to attract investments to possibly forgotten communities. Some of those are in Acadiana. Click here for more information on opportunity zones.
