An in-person event is still scheduled to take place on June 13, but LOPA says the online walk will allow friends and family to officially honor their loved ones during National Donate Life Month.

LOPA encourages everyone to take walks with their family or own their own on Saturday, April 4 and shared photos or video with the LOPA Walk for Heroes Facebook group.

Photos and videos can also be emailed to smorton@lopa.com.

"April is celebrated as National Donate Life Month every year. With this year being much different than years past, we want to continue to spread the life-saving message of organ and tissue donation in our community from home!" says LOPA in a press release. "Although we are unable to conduct in-person events, we still want to provide our community with opportunities to be involved and help honor our organ & tissue donors. With over 112,000 people awaiting a life-saving organ transplant in the United States, we still have a lot of work to do!"
