Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle shortly before 4 p.m. on August 17.
The crash took place on LA Hwy 1024 east of LA Hwy 449 (North Corbin Rd.) in Livingston Parish.
The crash took the life of 55-year-old James Evans of Walker.
The initial investigation revealed that the crash occurred as Evans was traveling westbound on Hwy 1024. At the same time, a vehicle was traveling eastbound on Hwy 1024. For reasons still under investigation, Evans crossed the centerline into the opposing lane, which resulted in his motorcycle striking the other vehicle head-on.
Evans was wearing a DOT approved helmet, but he sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash. He was transported to a local hospital where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Impairment on the part of Evans is unknown at this time, but a toxicology sample was taken for analysis.
All other parties were properly restrained and not injured.
The driver of the vehicle was given a chemical breath test and showed no signs of impairment.
The investigation is still ongoing.
