Lebeau man killed in single-vehicle crash in Avoyelles Parish

A St. Landry Parish man was killed Thursday night in a single-vehicle crash in Avoyelles Parish.

State Police say the crash along La Hwy 1176 claimed the life of 32-year-old Wilbert Jorrel Tanner of Lebeau. Troopers say Tanner was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.

According to their investigation, State Police say the crash occurred on LA Hwy 1176, while Tanner was traveling westbound. For unknown reasons the vehicle exited the right side of the roadway and struck a utility pole. The vehicle then overturned causing Tanner to be ejected.

Tanner sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
