Lafayette native Lauren Daigle is giving back this holiday season in a special way.

On Giving Tuesday, Daigle posted to her Facebook page, asking her followers to partner with her and her team to gift the prisoners at Angola State Prison with calls and clothes.

"These are luxuries to inmates and not every person can afford to call home for the holidays, connect with their families and hear the voice of a loved one."

Daigle spent Wednesday, December 11 at Angola and announced that the campaign raised nearly $17,000 to fund clothing and phone calls for the people there this Christmas.

"Your generosity will provide more than 70,000 minutes of connection to friends, family, and loved ones," Daigle said in a post on Facebook.

While at the prison, Daigle performed for inmates, and met, spoke, and ate with them.
