The Advocate is reporting that families of two workers who were killed in the Hark Rock Hotel collapse on October 12 are filing wrongful death lawsuits against some companies involved in the hotel's construction.

Anthony Magrette, Quinnyon Wimberly, and Jose Ponce Arreola were all killed when the hotel collapsed on Saturday morning.

The families of Magrette and Wimberly have both filed lawsuits at Orleans Parish Civil District Court.

The daughter and twin sister of Magrette filed a suit on behalf of him; Wimberly's son filed on behalf of his father. They "argue that the deadly collapse occurred because the hotel was poorly designed and built unsafely, with signs of danger ignored."

Magrette's family are demanding damages as well "for the distress they say Magrette must have felt during the early moments of the collapse."

The families say they are owed compensation for the "mental anguish" they have suffered since their family members died.
