"I'd like to thank everyone for all the concern and expressions of prayers and good wishes for my husband's quick recovery," Trina Edwards says in the statement. "He is doing very well and has responded excellently to treatment, which has not been that extensive."

The 92-year-old, former governor is expected to released from the hospital soon.

He released the following statement Wednesday afternoon on his condition: "I was hospitalized for 2 days after suffering dehydration and a drop in blood sugar. I have received excellent care at Our Lady of the Lake Medical Center and appreciate their service. I also appreciate the numerous telephone calls and text messages expressing concerns about my health. I have tried to return as many calls as possible but I hope you understand if I didn't and I will try again later. I am fully recovered and expect to go home this afternoon. I also express gratitude to my wife Trina who took very good care of me."
