DERIDDER, La. - Use of counterfeit money is on the rise throughout the city of DeRidder.

The counterfeit bills, better known as "movie money", are commonly purchased on websites, and they are usually $100 bills.

The bills have a Chinese/Japanese stamp on front, back, or both sides of the bills. The stamp can easily be overlooked if someone is in a rush, and used purchase unintentionally.

If a person is intentionally using the counterfeit bill, they can be arrested for Monetary Instrument Abuse.

DeRidder Police Department encourages everyone to inspect their bills before making a purchase.
