Kyle Joekel, found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder in the 2012 ambush shooting deaths of two St. John the Baptist Parish sheriff's deputies, has been given the death penalty, our media partners at The Advocate report.
Joekel had little reaction to the decision at the St. John the Baptist Parish Courthouse in Edgard on Sunday morning, the newspaper reports.
The sentence comes two days after Joekel was found guilty in the 2012 killings of St. John Sheriff’s Office deputies Brandon Nielsen and Jeremy Triche.
