Coast Guard searching for person in water in Plaquemines Parish

The Coast Guard says that crews are currently searching for a person in the water on Thursday, September 3 near Pilottown in Plaquemines Parish.

38-year-old Christina Castro, from Modesto, California was reported missing to the Coast Guard around 9:00 pm on September 2.

Castro was last seen wearing a blue shirt, blue pants and black life jacket.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans say they received a report Wednesday evening of a 34-foot catamaran taking on water near West Delta Block 109, approximately six nautical miles southwest of Southwest Pass, near Pilottown, with three people aboard.

A 45-foot Response Boat-Medium boat crew and a MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter were dispatched to the area.

The Coast Guard says that an Offshore Supply Vessel, the Mr. Jake, recovered two people from the water. Both were wearing life jackets and are in stable condition.
