Brookshire's Grocery Co. announced Wednesday that their stores will offer a temporary five percent discount to senior citizens during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The company says the discount will last until May 5, 2020 and will be applicable at any of the stores they operate. Those stores include, Brookshire's, Super 1 Foods, Spring Market and FRESH by Brookshire's.

In the effort to support senior health and safety, Brookshire's is also encouraging communities to reserve the first full hour of store operations as dedicated shopping for those 60 and older.

Fees for Curbside pickup orders, where available, have also been waived for all guests until May 5, according to the company.

All advertised promotions will be honored, but Brookshire's says that there is no guarantee that all products will be available due to a current high demand.

"Since 1928, courteous and compassionate service has remained at the core of who we are and what we stand for," Brad Brookshire, Chairman and CEO for Brookshire Grocery Co. said in a press release. "We believe it is incredibly important for all of us to be kind to those around us. During these times of concern about COVID-19, we are asking you to join in our efforts to take care of our senior neighbors and others who are most vulnerable. We are eternally grateful for our guests for their support and patience, and to our employees for their incredible service, during these unprecedented times."
