An Alexandria man has been arrested for setting two separate brush fires on a relative's property.

48-year-old Lawrence Fuglaar Jr., was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center on one count of Simple Arson after investigators say he set brush fires on a relative's property following an argument. He faces additional charges in the case from another agency.

In the afternoon hours of November 29, the Cotile Fire Department requested the assistance of the State Fire Marshal's Office (SFM) to determine the origin and cause of two brush fires located in the 600 block of Tom Fuglaar Road in Boyce.

Following an investigation, officials say the fires were determined to have been intentionally set and Fuglaar, Jr. was identified as a suspect in the case.

A warrant was obtained for Fuglaar, Jr.'s arrest and he was re-booked on the Simple Arson charge while already in custody for additional charges in connection with the case from the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office.
