The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office says that a 6-year-old is now in critical condition after being accidentally shot by a sibling Thursday night.
The incident happened in the parking lot of the Family Dollar on Highway 74 in Geismar.
Deputies say the two siblings were inside a vehicle when the 6-year-old was shot.
The child was transported via air med to Our Lady of Lake Children's Hospital.
