Progressive Auto Insurance will be going down in Louisiana.
Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon tells KATC that Progressive filed for a 2.2 percent rate reduction.
Progressive is the second company to lower auto insurance rates in Louisiana.
“They only asked for 2.2 percent, but State Farm did their 7.7 percent in three bites over a 15-month period of time,” says Donelon.
Donelon adds that history shows those rates could go even lower.
“They are putting their foot in the water first, and hopefully we’ll see further reductions in the near future,” he says.
