State Police are investigating a deputy-involved shooting in Natchitoches Parish.

Louisiana State Police say that they responded to a deputy-involved shooting around 4:30 Thursday morning in Cloutierville.

A preliminary investigation by state police revealed that the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance at a residence along LA Highway 1 early Thursday morning. There, state police say that a deputy encountered a 29-year-old man.

During an interaction, state police say that the deputy discharged his weapon striking the 29-year-old.

The 29-year-old was transported to Rapides Regional Trauma Center with “moderate non-life threatening injuries.”

KATC has chosen not to identify the 29-year-old who was shot because he has not been arrested at this time.

State Police say that no deputies were injured in the incident.

An investigation is ongoing.
