UPDATE: All lanes of I-10 East on the Bonnet Carre Spillway are now OPEN.
A multi-vehicle crash on Friday morning involving an 18-wheeler sent frozen fish spilling onto the roadway and one person the hospital, according to reports from WBRZ and others.
The 18-wheeler was reportedly hauling 40,000 lbs of frozen fish when it crashed into the back of another vehicle spilling the fish onto the roadway. The crash happened around 4:00 am.
Troopers said there were injuries involved in the crash. Emergency responders were on scene working to clear the vehicles from the roadway.
According to DOTD, the roadway is now open. State Police say drivers can expect delays in the area. An alternate route via US 61 (Airline Highway) was established.
