Kristian “Kris” Gaudet, 45, of Cut Off, was booked in January with two counts of felony theft, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office told the newspaper.

But since then, several more victims have been identified. His booking sheet now lists: 10 counts felony theft; 10 counts money laundering; four counts exploitation of the infirm; one count racketeering.

According to the newspaper, the suspect, who owns Kris Gaudet Insurance and Financial Services, became the focus of an investigation late last year when a couple from Cut Off became suspicious about their investments with him. Gaudet’s bail first was set at $4.85 million but it was reduced in February with the condition that he wears an ankle monitor. His current bail is set at $680,000. His next court appearance is scheduled for March 29.
