NEW ORLEANS, La. — An unidentified 10-year-old is dead and two other juveniles are injured after a shooting in the Seventh Ward, New Orleans police tell our media partners at the New Orleans Advocate.

A 10-year-old was shot in the head and died at the scene, police have said. A 15 or 16-year-old girl was shot in the stomach and a 13-year-old boy was shot in the leg, NOPD Chief Shaun Ferguson said in a press conference.

"That is unheard of," Ferguson said. "In a time in which we as a society are talking about social justice versus social injustice, we as a community need to take a look at ourselves and what is it that we are accepting as a norm that we should not be accepting as a norm with black on black violence."

All three are victims of a shooting around 5 p.m. in the 2100 block of Pauger Street that the New Orleans Police Department reported.

The juveniles were standing in the street when another group arrived and starting firing at them, Ferguson said.
