A poll commissioned by State House Speaker Clay Schexnayder finds the majority of Louisiana residents support a mask mandate.
According to the survey, 76 percent of respondents said 'yes, the government should require masks be worn in public to stop the spread of the coronavirus. 17 percent were undecided.
61 percent disagreed with petition by Republican lawmakers seeking to end the public health emergency.
The survey was conducted on July 18-19 with 3,600 participants.
