Ochsner Lafayette General scheduling new vaccine first dose appointments

Ochsner Lafayette General says they have begun scheduling new first dose appointments for the the COVID-19 vaccine.

On Monday, February 8, Louisiana COVID-19 vaccine eligibility criteria has expanded to include people ages 65 and older, law enforcement and other first responders, and State and local essential COVID-19 emergency response personnel.

Ochsner says that with the expansion, they have reached out to those who they moved to their priority wait list after having to cancel their appointments due to vaccine shortages. Ochsner is now offering scheduling for new first dose appointments in limited quantities, on a first-come, first-served basis to members of the community who are eligible.

Ochsner Lafayette General says that an appointment is required to receive a vaccination. Those without an appointment will be turned away.

Those interested in receiving the COVID-19 vaccine can visit OchsnerLG.org/vaccine for more information about the vaccine and to schedule a vaccination appointment.

"As vaccine supply changes from week to week, we encourage all community members to continue to check OchsnerLG.org/vaccinefor the latest information."

Those who are eligible for a vaccine can find a full list of providers at covidvaccine.la.gov.
