Wednesday, we reported that health officials say the recent influx of new COVID-19 tests is leading to longer waiting times to receive results.
One Lafayette clinic, though, says they've been seeing the exact opposite.
In fact, staff a Minute Med say they're seeing results come in more quickly than when the pandemic first began.
"I feel like it's not taking as long as it was. I feel like the labs, I can only assume, have more personnel and better at processing these tests," explained Colin Hidalgo, a family nurse practitioner at Minute Med. "When COVID first appeared back in March, it was taking nearly two weeks to get results back, but lately it's taken only four business days."
Dr. Tina Stefanski with the Louisiana Department of Health said that the majority of tests are done in private, commercial labs, which has put a strain on the labs and has resulted in longer result times.
