Cameron Parish family ready for a fresh start following two major storms

After two devastating hurricanes in Southwest Louisiana, one family in Cameron Parish says they've had enough.

That family is now planning to move out of the area.

Today was their first time back to their Cameron Parish home since Hurricane Laura but they already made up their minds about moving. Whatever wasn't damaged in Hurricane Laura was destroyed by Hurricane Delta. Now the LaCoste family is ready to start over.

"It's not worth it for me to do it anymore and have to go through this," said Michael LaCoste.

LaCoste and his wife returned to what's left of their home for the first time since evacuating ahead of Hurricane Laura.

"It was a little hard to take in at first. I told my wife if we hadn't made the decision to not come back that would've made the decision for us,” LaCoste added.

Since August, the couple has been staying with family in Lake Arthur. They're now looking to start fresh, farther north in Alexandria.

"I have a son that lives there and if we're going to move we might as well be closer to him that way we can see him. We didn't have any transportation before and now we have transportation so hopefully we get the means to relocate and don't have to keep going through this,” said LaCoste.

The family hopes to move to Alexandria in the coming months.
