LAFAYETTE — The Discovery Channel is spotlighting the volunteers of the Cajun Navy in an upcoming documentary that will air later this month.

Produced by Lightbox Productions, the film, titled "Cajun Navy", will follow the men and women who make up the groups who volunteer during hurricanes and severe weather situations.

Discovery says the documentary will share stories of individuals who took on the challenge of rescuing people during Hurricanes Katrina, Harvey, Florence and Michael.

A release from Discovery shows that it may also touch on personal stories of how volunteers struggle with their own loss after the disasters and why they chose to stay in the face of danger.

"We're headed into the storm with this group of volunteers as they aid hurricane victims around the country," Discovery says on their Facebook page.

You can watch the documentary on the The Discovery on July 23rd at 9:00 p.m.
