The Maurice Volunteer Fire Department is asking residents of the city and parish to help them address the growing issue of false fire alarms.
Firefighters say that the number of false alarms has become a problem for volunteers and is costing local fire departments money. A Facebook post on Tuesday called on residents to help solve the problem.
The post reminds residents of the ordinance that went into effect on January 1 which sets a limit of three dispatches to false alarms before fines are incurred.

Officials say to make sure you have routine maintenance done to your alarm system, and update your alarm company with recent information and call back numbers.
