The Vermilion Parish School Board has finally elected a president and vice president.
Jean Broussard will be president and Laura LeBeouf will remain vice president.
State law and board policy requires that the board elect a president at its first meeting of the year; no board meetings can be held until there’s a president to run it. But when the board met for the first time, the eight-member board couldn’t agree.
That’s not anything new; the board has been fighting for more than a year over various issues, including the superintendent, Jerome Puyau.
The District Attorney currently is investigating some board actions, or inactions. You can read about the grand jury investigation here.
