Wednesday, the Vermilion Parish School Board along with the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s office and local police agencies held a safety training at North Vermilion High School.
The event focused on crisis training for law enforcement and teachers and staff. Officials say the training will allow for a better understanding of how to handle dangerous situations in Vermilion Parish schools.
Teachers say the day will help staff at all schools become more informed on helping students.
“I guess it’s really important to me because I have children in the school system. Not only do I want to be informed to help the students on this campus, I want everyone to be informed so my own children are safe wherever they are,” said Assistant Principal, North Vermilion High School Denise Lotief.
