ABBEVILLE – The Louisiana Cattle Festival is celebrating 70 years and now has a new home.

For 69 years, the festival went on in downtown Abbeville, but this year, it will be at The Red Barn on Rodeo Road.

The historical festival opened this evening with music, food and carnival rides.

Festivities continue tomorrow with a livestock show at 8 a.m.

Don’t miss the Grand Parade on Saturday, which will start at the intersection of N State St. & Charity St.at 1 p.m.

The festival pays tribute to – you guessed it – the cattle industry.

“I think one of the things that makes us different is because it’s all about beef and also celebrating the beef industry. And, it’s a real celebration of our Cajun culture,” said Francis Plaisance, President of the Louisiana Cattle Festival.
