MAURICE–Mayor Wayne Theriot declined a pay raise the village council was set to give him Wednesday night.
Theriot asked the council to instead use the money they would have paid him to fund an assistant clerk position in town hall.
Meanwhile, the council tabled a pay raise item for the police chief pending further discussion.
