Grogan says the victim, identified as Riley Buck, died Tuesday as a result of injuries sustained in the March 24th beating.

One person, 41-year-old Jarrett Williams, was booked last week with second-degree battery in connection with the incident. Chief Grogan says charges have been upgraded for Williams to first-degree murder. He was arrested and booked on those charges on Tuesday, April 2.

No bond has been set.

According to St. Mary Now, a toxicology test done on Williams following his arrest allegedly showed signs of PCP in his system. Grogan also told the newspaper that Williams had allegedly told police that “God told him to do it” in reference to the attack.
