Assumption Parish Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a Morgan City man and accused him of making a bomb threat to a Bayou L’Ourse business.
Alan P. Sylvester, 33, was booked with terrorizing and communication of false information of a planned arson, Sheriff Leland Falcon says.
Deputies were called to the business, located on La. 662 in Bayou L’Ourse, on Monday, the sheriff said. The business staff reported that a bomb threat had been made.
The business was evacuated and a large law enforcement presence was required, the sheriff said.
Once the scene was deemed safe, detectives began an investigation, he said. They identified Sylvester, an employee of the company, as a suspect. He was on the scene during the investigation, the sheriff said.
Sylvester was questioned and allegedly admitted to having phoned in the threat.
He was booked and now is awaiting a bond hearing, the sheriff said.
