St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s deputies are investigating two Amelia burglaries of welding supplies.
On Friday, September 7, a business owner discovered his business had been broken into. Locks on the business were tampered with, and several items, including welding leads, were missing. The total value of the stolen items is estimated at $3,500.
The following Friday, September 14, another Amelia-area business was broken into. A lock was cut off the gate, and then a door was breached to gain access to the business’ shop. A large amount of welding leads were taken; this time the estimated value of stolen items was approximately $8,000. Investigators believe a vehicle was used to transport the leads out of the business.
