Breaux Bridge woman killed in St. Martin Parish crash

Posted

A Breaux Bridge woman was killed Thursday night following a single-vehicle crash on LA 349 near LA 347.

State Police Troop I say the crash occurred around 11:00 pm Thursday night. The crash took the life of 53-year-old Shally LeBlanc of Breaux Bridge.

An investigation into the crash revealed that a 2010 Ford Taurus was traveling south on LA 349 when it ran off the right side of the roadway while entering a left curve. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle struck a ditch embankment and overturned. State Police say the driver of the vehicle was restrained and received moderate injuries.

LeBlanc, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was unrestrained and received critical injuries. Both LeBlanc and the driver were transported to Lafayette General Hospital. LeBlanc later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead by hospital staff.

Troopers say impairment is suspected to be a factor in the crash. Blood samples were obtained from the driver and a standard toxicology test is pending.

Charges for the driver of the vehicle are also pending.
