Staff and officers of the Opelousas Police Department were on hand to meet the public on Tuesday.

The Department held a meet and greet at City Hall for citizens to voice their concerns and to help inform the public on the work being done by OPD.

Citizens were able to talk directly with the officers who patrol their streets, giving them an option for one-on-one discussions.

Loren Carriere Executive Director of Hope for Opelousas says that the event was a beautiful moment, showing what communities and officials ought to do.

“It is important for the police department to know the people that they are policing…I think that was mission accomplished,” Carriere said.

The meeting was open to the public.
