Giles Automotive announced Thursday that their campaign to raise funds for the three St. Landry Parish churches destroyed by arson is nearing its goal.

The Giles Gives Back campaign set a goal to raise $50,000 in 30 days for the three churches. In the almost two weeks since its start, the campaign has collected over $33,000, according to a release. Giles Automotive plans to match donations for a total of $100,000.

Giles hopes that donations will continue to come in to help them reach their $50,000 goal. Two weeks still remain to make a donation.

“I am so thankful to be a part of a community that comes together to support those in need,” says Bob Giles. “Giles Gives Back to St. Landry Churches has been very fortunate to receive all the donations collected so far, and we want to make it to that $50,000 goal. We urge those that haven’t to make a donation and give back to the churches that have given so much to this community for decades.”

Donations can be made to Giles Gives Back to St. Landry Churches at any IBERIABANK branch.

The funds will be distributed evenly between St. Mary’s Baptist Church, Greater Union Baptist Church and Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.

The Giles Give Back campaign was announced on April 12.
