The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for the 2019 Louisiana Sheriff’s Association scholarship.

One scholarship in the amount of $500.00 will be awarded by the sheriff’s office to an “outstanding graduating senior” from a St. Landry Parish high school. The scholarship is being made possible with the help of the Louisiana Sheriff’s Association.

The scholarship has no restrictions on how the funds may be used. The sheriff’s department says, however, that those funds must be used “in pursuit of a higher education within the state of Louisiana.”

Students who apply must enroll as a full-time undergraduate student in an accredited Louisiana college or university. Applicants must be a permanent resident of Louisiana and St. Landry Parish.

Application packets may be picked up at participating high schools in St. Landry Parish. Completed applications must be received by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office no later than April 1, 2019.  For further information, contact the Sheriff’s Office at 348-6516, ext. 3114, or your high school guidance counselor or principal.

A winner will be determined by an independent selection committee and announced by May 1, 2019.
