Opelousas will once again hold annual Thanksgiving dinner for less fortunate

The City of Opelousas will be hosting its 3rd Annual Thanksgiving dinner for the less fortunate residents of St. Landry Parish.

Organizers say the dinner is a way to help out those who are not fortunate enough to have a Thanksgiving dinner or someone to share Thanksgiving Day.

The dinner will also have a drawing for those who attend.

The Thanksgiving Dinner will be hosted at South Street Elementary, on Thursday, November 22, 2018, from 11:00 -1:00 pm.

Transportation will be provided by the Opelousas Police Department from the following locations for residents that need a ride to South Street Elementary.

Organizers ask that those needing transportation to the dinner be at the following locations by 10:00 am on November 22, 2018.

  • Holy Ghost Catholic Church and Holy Trinity Villa
  • Donald Gardner Stadium
  • Yambilee Building
  • Men’s Refinery Shelter

Donations for the Dinner are still being accepted.  Monetary donations, gift cards or goods can be given to the following committee members.
