Today, Louisiana Retired Teachers Association (LRTA) District V held their biannual meeting at Evangeline Downs in Opleousas.
The group meets every spring and fall and includes Evangeline, Iberia, Lafayette, St Landry, St Martin, St Mary and Vermilion parishes. LRTA has 11 districts in Louisiana.
“We discuss the legislature and making sure our benefits are protected, and they are by the constitution and we want to keep that,” said Nancy Quigley, LRTA State President. “We get together and we talk about what our problems are and what we can do to help education and to help those still in education,” said Nancy Quigley, LRTA State President.
LRTA’s state convention will take place next month in Bossier City.
